3 Ramen Noodle Tricks I Use To Enhance The Taste

As a full-time college student, I love Ramen Noodles. My favorite flavor is chicken, followed closely by beef. I’m not a seafood kind of guy, so I stay away from the Shrimp. Chicken and beef are pretty much what I stick to. If there is a flavor of Ramen I’m missing out on, please let me know in the comments below.

Ramen Noodles are great as-is, right out of the package. However, sometimes it’s nice to spicen things up or add a little extra sumthin-sumthin. I have come across many different ‘tricks’, or just stuff to add to it, that I’ve tried personally, but there are really only three things I have found to really hit the spot. Are you ready for some awesomeness? Here we go…

1. Add An Egg

Ok, if you’ve never tried this before I know what you’re thinking: ‘What in the world are you trying to do to me?’ Trust me, I thought this sounded disgusting the first time I heard of it. But the first time I tried it I fell in love. This is single handedly my favorite thing to add to Ramen Noodles.

Basically, you let the water reach boiling point and add a raw egg in either right before or right after you add the noodles. I like to break the yolk and stir it in with the noodles. You could break up the egg before hand in a separate bowl, but that just dirties up some extra dishes. By the time the 3 minutes it takes to cook the Ramen is up, the egg will be cooked. It’s delicious. Please try it before you judge.

2. Add Pepperonis

What I like to do is take 5 or 6 normal-sized (like from a pizza) pepperonis and dice them up into about 1/8 inch pieces. Don’t worry too much about the size because pepperoni is pepperoni no matter how big or small it is. It still tastes amazing. Sometimes I add them to my boiling Ramen Noodles when they have about a minute left to boil. Sometimes I add them cold in the end, after I take the noodles off the heat. The difference is when you add them while the noodles are still boiling, the grease from the pepperonis mixes in with all the noodles and you get a very satisfying sort of spicy flavor. It’s so delicious.

3. Add Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce

Sriracha Hot Chilli Sauce is my all time favorite hot sauce. It has a lot of flavor and packs a lot of spice. I’ve tried other sauces like Tabasco and they don’t mix with ramen as well as this Sriracha hot sauce, in my opinion. By the way, good luck pronouncing ‘Sriracha’… I have no idea how to say it.

I love spicy food. But this stuff is pretty potent. I usually squirt about a quarter-sized amount into one package of Ramen. It will spread pretty well and turn the noodles a pinkish color. You don’t need to go crazy with this stuff. I’m telling you… it’s pretty strong.

You can find Sriracha Hot Chilli Sauce in the oriental section of your local grocery store. Or you can buy some on Amazon. I personally always buy the 28oz bottle because I use it on a lot of things (especially pizza!)

4. BONUS TIP: Add All Of These!

Ok, you probably saw this one coming. But I’ve added them all before. The eggs, the pepperoni, and the hot sauce all at the same time. It’s great.
