Adam Levine is best known as the rock star lead singer of Maroon 5. He has achieved superstar level of fame as a coach on the hit TV show The Voice. Levine grew up in southern California, he formed a band with four of his best friends from school called Kara’s Flowers. They never hit it big but played lots of shows at popular clubs in L.A. like the Whiskey and Viper Room. Eventually they added a lead guitarist and became Maroon 5.
Levine wrote their first hit song, ‘Harder to Breathe’, it reached the Top 20 while Levine and his band mates toured nonstop. Maroon 5 toured for over three years. They played over 17 countries and developed quite a following. Finally it was time to go into the studio and release a new album. That album was ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’ and contained the hit songs ‘Makes Me Wonder’ and the band hit the road touring again.
Success continued for Adam Levine and Maroon 5. They released more albums and had more hit songs like ‘Moves Like Jagger’. When their album, ‘Hands All Over’ came out in late 2010, Levine said the end was in sight for Maroon 5. ”Eventually I want to focus on being a completely different person because I dont know if I want to do this into my 40s and 50s and beyond, like the Rolling Stones.’ Levine hinted that Maroon 5 may do one more album together then call it quits.
Adam Levine began breaking out on his own with appearances on Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Kimmel and Comedy Central’s ‘Night of Too Many Stars’. His big break came when he joined The Voice as a coach in 2011. Appearing alongside other superstar coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton, Levine proved his mettle by coaching Javier Colon to a win on the first season.
The Voice gave Levine incredible crossover appeal. Millions of people who had never heard of Maroon 5 watched Adam Levine on the voice. Maroon 5 came out with a new album in 2012 called ‘Overexposed’. The first song from the album shot to the top of the charts. ‘Payphone’ debuted at number 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and was one of the hottest songs of the summer.
The future is wide open for Adam Levine. Maroon 5 continues to be one of the most popular bands. Levine also has a successful television career with The Voice. Will he stay with Maroon 5? Or will he branch out further into movies? Only time will tell!
