Aerobic Exercise Examples

Aerobic exercise examples consist of any physical activities that are of light to moderate intensity and can be carried out for a long period of time. Aerobic exercises are perfect for burning extra calories and losing weight, especially in your thighs and lower belly. Even if you are not trying to lose weight, it is always healthy to perform aerobic exercises several times a week so that your heart can beat faster and increase the oxygen and blood flow to your muscles. This will give you more energy throughout the day and reduce depression and anxiety. In addition, doing aerobic exercises will help you get better sleep and improve your mental health as well. Below, I have listed aerobic exercise examples that you can do at the comfort of your home or outside on a sunny day.

1. Swimming is a great way to burn off those calories and get you in to shape. Unlike other aerobic exercises, swimming doesn’t put as much pressure on the joints, making it an ideal aerobic exercise for those who do not want to exacerbate old injuries. Swimming is also beneficial because it works out the entire body, leaving you slim and toned.

2. Jogging or walking briskly is the easiest aerobic exercise to do during your free time. All you really need is the motivation and a decent pair of sneakers. You can jog on the treadmill at your local gym or you can find a quiet area in your neighborhood, usually a park or a boardwalk.

3. Cycling is another low-impact workout that is a great way to increase your heart rate, burn calories and obtain toned legs and abs. For those who do not enjoy running, cycling is a great alternative. You can ride your bicycle outdoors taking in the fresh air or you can purchase an indoor stationary bike and work out in your living room.

4. Sports such as tennis, basketball, football and soccer are great examples of aerobic exercises. Often times, jogging, cycling, and swimming (just for the sake of working out) can be painfully boring. The added benefit of playing sports is that it is exciting, and it allows you to compete with other players who will only motivate you to do your best.
