All About Mesothelioma, Treatments, and Options

What is Mesothelioma?
Mesothelioma is a rare and deadly form of cancer that usually inhabits only those who have
been exposed to asbestos. Most of the people who suffer from mesothelioma have been exposed to asbestos through their jobs and it is usually an avoidable work hazard. The increasing number of cases of
mesothelioma, the asbestos exposure-related malignant cancer, has horrified and
angered patients and their loved ones around the world, and has even resulted in
numerous lawsuits.

Mesothelioma Treatments
Even though a variable range of mesothelioma treatment options are available, the majority of patients pass away several months after diagnosis. This is because there is no cure for mesothelioma. The treatment options available for pleural mesothelioma and other forms of lung cancer involve alleviating the symptoms and side effects from the disease, making the patient more comfortable, and increasing the life span for the afflicted person. As with most forms of cancer, mesothelioma is most commonly treated with radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and various medications to slow the progression of the disease. Unfortunately, these treatments are usually only beneficial if mesothelioma is caught early enough. Once the disease progresses, treatment options are limited and they may not be as successful.

All About Mesothelioma, Treatments, and OptionsAlternative Mesothelioma Options
There are several options available for the alternative treatment of mesothelioma. Some people have reported success with Hydrogen Peroxide therapy, in which various concentrations of hydrogen peroxide are either consumed or inhaled directly into the lungs via an aspirator. There are no studies to suggest that this practice is safe or effective, and there are some serious risks involved with inhaling hydrogen peroxide in concentrations over 3%. Other individuals have claimed that by increasing the pH of the body (alkalizing) and improving the immune system function, mesothelioma can be stopped before it has the chance to progress any further. Again, there aren’t any studies to suggest that this treatment actually works, and you should consult with your doctor before you start any diet program or supplement intake.

Mesothelioma is less rare today than it was a decade ago, and more and more cases are popping up around the world. Luckily, the use of asbestos has been eliminated in many of the more developed countries, which means that mesothelioma will hopefully be a completely avoidable and rare disease in the future. If you are afflicted with mesothelioma, make sure to stay healthy, see your doctor regularly, and contact an attorney to see if you qualify for benefits and claims for your ailment. You may be entitled to money that can help with the overbearing costs involved in treating this life threatening disease.
