Availing Remote PC Support to Fix Remote Procedure Call Failed Error

You may get annoyed with the uncertain PC errors that might ruin your entire computing experience. If you avail remote PC support services to fix such errors, here’s a complete guide to help you throughout your PC repair session.

The Remote Procedure Call Failed error message generally occurs when you stop the firewall service, and your system gets open to variety of threats. If you love to use Windows Store Apps, then you might have come across this error numerous times as some of the new apps may not get installed due to this error. One of the biggest reasons for this error is an incorrect allocation of registry entries, probably tweaked by third-party apps. Additionally, this error can also be the result of the failure of Remote Procedure Call and Remote Procedure Call Locater services. Configure a remote desktop manager and ask an IT technician to confirm if the call locator services are functioning properly. An IT expert will probably take the help of the remote desktop viewer or other free remote PC programs to run ‘services.msc’ and confirm the proper functioning of your call locator services.

How the Error Executes?

After a user finishes installing Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 on a Server 2003-based PC, the update may ask him to stop the Microsoft Security Essentials. If you agree to stop the Microsoft Firewall service, then the commands may ask you to right-click the firewall service in the ISA Management. Now, you will have to click on ‘Stop’ button, and you may receive this error message:

“The remote procedure call failed.”

Always remember that even if the Microsoft Firewall service has successfully stopped, still you will see this error message a number of times. The error might display itself a couple of times because of a new remote procedure call (RPC) error has returned a value in Windows Server 2003.

How IT Expert Will Resolve this Error Using a Remote Desktop Manager?

• First, he may ask you to install a remote desktop viewer or install free remote PC software to gain access to your PC

• Press ‘Windows Key + R’ combination and type ‘Regedt32.exe’ in Run dialog box. Now, hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.

• Try navigating to the following location:

“HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesLocal SettingsSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAppContainerStorage” (Source: Microsoft.com)

• Navigate to the left pane of the location mentioned above and look for ‘winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy subkey,’ under the ‘Key Storage’ section

• If you can’t find the subkey, then create one by right-clicking on ‘Storage key’ and selecting ‘New key.’ Now, create two subkeys of ‘winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy’ and name them as ‘Internet Settings and Software.’

• Open your browser and download the ‘SetACL.exe’ file and save it to ‘C: WindowsSystem32,’ assuming ‘C:’ is the system root drive

• Now, run the following command using administrative Command Prompt:

SetACL -on ‘hkcuSoftwareClassesLocal SettingsSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAppContainerStoragewinstore_cw5n1h2txyewy’ -ot reg -actn ace -ace ‘n: S-1-15-2-2608634532-1453884237-1118350049-1925931850-670756941-1603938316-3764965493;p:full;i:so,sc;m:grant;w:dacl’ (Source: Microsoft.com)

• Once the command executes, wait patiently and restart your machine to see the effects.

Another Option for Fixing the Remote Procedure Call Failed Error

Install the ISA Server 2000 Required Updates for Windows Server 2003 package and download the following Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 updates (Source: Microsoft.com):
• ISA Server Service Pack 1 (SP1)

• The ISA Server 2000 Required Updates for Windows Server 2003 package

Since the ISA Server supports all versions of Windows Server 2003, except Web Edition, you will be able to fix this error without conducting a remote login session. You can also work around this problem by using the Services Control Panel tool by using the following steps:

• Click Start, click Run, type ‘services.msc,’ and then click OK.

• In the Name list, right-click ‘Microsoft Firewall,’ and then click Stop.

The tweaks mentioned above are some of the common solutions that usually all IT technicians perform over the remote login session. If you think that you’ll not be able to troubleshoot the error, then immediately contact an online technical support company to fix the same for you. Always remember to install some of the best free remote PC software before you call a remote PC support company to avoid any delay in service delivery. Try to create a system restore point, before experimenting with the Windows Registry, to avoid major computer flaws and performance issues.
