Behold The Man (Jesus)

When I was fourteen years old I used to write religious poems and songs and say the former in church. I did not know much about computers at that time and the internet was not a household word. I therefore never thought that I would one day publish this to be seen by people all around the world. The poem that I am sharing with you here is about beholding Jesus who, though God, came in the flesh and died as a man for all of us and who offers salvation to all who will accept it and draw close to Him and His Word.

Poem: Behold The Man

(1) Behold the Man,
Who made the lame to walk,
The deaf and the dumb He made to talk.
Behold the Man,
Who made the blind to see,
Who took up children upon His knee,
Behold the Man, Jesus!

(2) Behold the Man,
Who died on Calvary,
So that He could save both you and me (and all of humanity)
Behold the Man,
Who could not be held in the tomb
Amidst all satanic gloom,
Behold the Man, Jesus!

(3) Behold the Man,
Who now mediates on our behalf,
No longer is needed a sacrificial lamb or calf,
Behold the Man,
Who made salvation sure,
To those who would just open the door,
Behold the Man, Jesus!

(4) Behold the Man,
Who bids us say farewell,
To the many things that belong to hell,
Behold the Man,
Who can give us the victory over sin,
And promises to cleanse us from within,
Behold the Man, Jesus! Jesus!
Why I chose that theme
Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is History’s dividing line between BC and AD. Jesus is the Answer to our problems. We must not just like Him but love Him. Many say that they like Jesus but it is in being like Him that the real challenge comes. It is by beholding Jesus that we become changed.

Bible Verses To Study
Behold Jesus’ great gift of salvation
1 John 3:1 “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.”

Behold, Jesus invites you
Rev. 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

Behold, He comes again
Rev. 1:7 “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”

O reader, I trust that you will not only take hold of God’s Word but you will let God’s Word take hold of you.
