Personally, I am a fan of Nikon when it comes to taking wedding pictures. Nikon cameras have much more advanced functions compared to Canon cameras. In essence, this could be a double-edge sword. If you are a fairly experienced photographer, you will find that the advanced functions give you more options and choices on how you want the pictures to look and feel. If you are an amateur photographer who does not really know how to use advance functions, a Nikon camera may seem to be cluttered and confusing. For beginners, I suggest you purchase a Canon. You’ll find it to be much easier to handle. Perhaps the biggest difference between a Nikon and a Canon can be seen in the pictures they produce. Pictures from a Canon camera tend to pop out more and have a more vibrant and rich color scheme. On the other hand, the Nikon excels at flash photography and the Nikon’s flash meter is much more consistent compared to that of the Canon. At weddings, flash photography is almost always needed to get clear, brightly lit pictures.

Nikon D5100

For the big day, I highly recommend purchasing the Nikon D5100, which is an excellent camera for taking wedding pictures. The Nikon D5100 is under 1000 dollars and is very affordable compared to many other types of DSLR cameras. It comes armed with a whopping 16.2 megapixels and has very fast continuous shooting so that you won’t miss any important moments at the wedding. The Nikon D5100 also has a flip out screen so that you can take pictures of yourself without having to guess what it’s going to look like. The Nikon D7000 is the more expensive version of this camera that comes with a lot more advanced features. However, the image quality produced from the Nikon 5100 and the Nikon D7000 is nearly identical. In addition, the Nikon D5100 is a third of the price of the Nikon D7000. There is no need to spend that extra money. To buy the Nikon D5100 on Amazon or read more reviews, click here.
