In a joint effort between two manufacturers of mens deodorant a survey was executed across North America and multiple key countries in Europe. The survey taken over a six month period was to determine the most popular brands in mens deodorants and to also determine the favourite between deodorants and antiperspirants. An astounding 250,000 men and women ranging in ages between 18 and 61 took the quick survey to answer what brand and scent was their favourite and which was their preference deodorants or antiperspirants. Women were asked what scents they preferred smelling the most.
The survey gave a quick explanation of the difference between a deodorant and an antiperspirant and how and when each should be used with a question afterwards of whether they will be switching the type of underarm deodorant they use. A large number of surveys revealed that more than 50% of men regardless of age did not have a clear understanding of the differences between deodorants and antiperspirants. The differences and reasons for using are as follows;
What is a Deodorant?
Deodorants unlike antiperspirants contain antibacterial properties that reduce odour causing bacteria and most often contain perfume ingredients that help to mask the smell and add a scent to the wearer like cologne would. The purpose of using a deodorant is to add a scent to the body and mask possible bacterial smells from the under arms. Someone who should use a deodorant is someone who does not generally sweat under the arms.
What is an Antiperspirant?
The purpose for using an antiperspirant is to reduce the amount of sweating under the arms. The way in which an antiperspirant does this is because of the aluminum chlorohydrate that is in the product which helps to reduce the amount of sweating in your underarm area by blocking pores and even slightly shrinking them. The higher the aluminum content the better your antiperspirant will work. Antiperspirants usually have a perfumed scent added.
One thing both antiperspirants and deodorants have in common is that a roll on application will provide better coverage and last longer than the spray on versions of the same product.
So what is the Best Smelling Deodorant for men?
Out of all of the deodorant brands for men the top mens deodorant to use and smell differed on country but had some similarities in that the younger crowds chose sport based or themed scents and the older the survey participant the sexier the smell preference was. Adidas was popular among younger adults where Armani, Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren were popular among older men and women. The brands of deodorant and antiperspirant that are most popular in no particular order are; Adidas, Arm & Hammer, Axe, Degree,Dolce & Gabbana, Gillette, Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss, Mennen, Ralph Lauren, Usher. There are many other brands available that were selected in the survey but not as popular as the ones mentioned here.
The best smelling mens deodorants are available at local drug stores, Grocers and anywhere else bathroom products are sold. Deodorants and antiperspirants are also conveniently available to order online on websites like Amazon.com.
