Nearly all women desire to have soft, smooth healthy skin, free of flakiness and dry patches. However sometimes we can be prone to dry skin and dullness. A way to help combat this problem is to exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating works by removing the dead skin cells from the upper layer of your skin, revealing fresh and younger skin. Exfoliating can also stimulate blood circulation giving your skin a rosier glow.
There are several different ways to exfoliate dry skin, here are the best methods:
Exfoliating scrub
When purchasing an exfoliating scrub you have two options, a cream or a gel based product. These contain tiny abrasive particles which help to buff away the dry skin. Use a scrub that contains more rounded particles as this will less likely irritate your skin. You can use the scrub when your skin is damp and massage it on to your skin, then rinse off with warm water.
Homemade body scrubs
You can try making your own body scrub using natural ingredients. Do this by mixing some sea salt with olive oil. Apply it to your skin and like it soak in for a few minutes before massage and rinsing off.
Natural Sea Salt
If you like you can just use natural sea salt on its own. You can just leave a tub of sea salt near the bath or shower and whenever you want to exfoliate your dry skin just scoop a handful and massage it over your skin then rinse off per usual.
Bath mitts, loofahs or exfoliating gloves
These are easy to use and are cost effective because you can use it over and over. Bath mitts, loofahs and exfoliating gloves can be a little harsh for the skin especially when they are brand new. When you first use them be gentle, and do not press too hard. You can use it with your favourite body wash as well. Make sure you rinse your loofahs, bath mitts or exfoliating gloves well and let them dry after use to keep them clean.
Facecloth or bath sponge
Face clothes and bath sponges are gentler for your skin and are recommended for those with more sensitive skin. Use it with a moisturizing shower gel to help soften your dry skin, then rinse it after use.
Body Brushes
Body brushes are useful as you can use them on hard to reach places. The best way to use a body brush to exfoliate your skin, is to use it when your skin is still dry before you have a bath or shower. This will loosen the dead skin cells and also provide good blood circulation. You can also use it in the shower however it is not as effective.
