Blackpool F.C. – recent history.
Blackpool F. C. was founded in the English Seaside Resort of Blackpool in 1887. The club has experienced an incredible few years with promotion to the Premier League in 2010 through the Championship Play-off. Although relegated from the English Premier League at the end of the 2010-2011 season Blackpool F.C continue to play exciting attacking football in the Football League Championship.
Blackpool F.C. – favourite players.
Over the past few seasons Blackpool F.C. fans have been privileged to witness some amazing talent playing for the club. Players such as Charlie Adam, Brett Ormerod and Kevin Phillips along with the current manager Ian Holloway have quickly become legends at Blackpool F.C.
Perhaps the most well known Blackpool F.C. players of recent times Charlie Adam quickly became a firm fans favourite after joining the club on loan from Glasgow Rangers during the 2008-2009 season. At the start of the 2009-2010 season Charlie Adam signed for Blackpool F.C. on a permanent contract and went on to score many important goals during the promotion winning season. Perhaps the most important goal came in the play-off final against Cardiff which resulted in Blackpool F.C. being promoted to the English Premier League. Charlie Adam’s debut season in the Premier League was a great success – scoring twelve goals. Unfortunately after Blackpool’s relegation Charlie Adam decided to move to Liverpool F.C. – however, he will continue to be a Blackpool F.C. legend.
Brett Ormerod has become a unique player having played for Blackpool F.C. in all four English football league divisions. Originally joining from Accrington in 1997 he quickly became a fans favourite scoring 46 goals in 4 seasons before eventually leaving Blackpool F.C. to join Southampton in the English Premier League. Brett Ormerod rejoined Blackpool F.C. in 2009 scoring a furhter 15 goals – including the winning goal in the play-off final.
Kevin Phillips joined Blackpool F.C. at the start of the 2011-2012 season. The veteran striker has quickly established himself as a fans favourite, scoring 11 goals.
