Blood Type O Diet Foods

A list of blood type O diet foods might be useful if you would like to follow the Blood Type Diet and your blood type is O. The Blood Type Diet is based on a concept, that one’s body reacts to different kinds of food accordingly to one’s blood type. This diet is popularized by Dr. Peter D’Adamo in his book Eat Right 4 Your Type. Blood Type O Diet Foods

Meat and fish
Meat and fish are main protein sources for Type O. When it comes to meat, beef, lamb, mutton, venison and veal are recommended as best choices. Most other kinds of meat are also beneficial, but please take note that type O should avoid pork, ham, bacon and any pig-derived meat. Cod, herring and mackerel are recommended fish for type O.

Type O benefits from vegetables that help blood clot. Those veggies include spinach, kale, romaine lettuce and broccoli. There are also other vegetables recommended for type O: leeks, horseradish, artichokes, onions, pumpkin, red peppers and sweet potatoes.

Sources of fats
When it comes to fats you should know that type O benefits from oils, especially from olive oil and flaxseed oil. From time to time you can replace those oils with canola or sesame oil. Please note that most fats you consume should be unsaturated (when oil is used for frying it becomes saturated). Also, choose extra virgin oil when possible. Seeds are another great source of fats. Pumpkin seeds are recommended, but you can (from time to time) also choose sunflower or sesame ones.

Nuts contain a lot of nutrients: healthy fatty acids, proteins and a lot of minerals. Walnuts are the most beneficial for type O, but you can sometimes replace them with almonds or filberts.

When it comes to beans, there are only a few of them recommended: pinto beans, black-eyed peas, and azuki beans. You should also know that type O don’t do well with beans so they should be eaten in moderation.

It’s said that figs, plums and prunes are the most beneficial fruits for type O.

There are also a few spices that are recommended for type O. Those spices are: cayenne pepper, curry and turmeric.
