The adjustable 3.1 comes in as a quality utility workbench and the staple piece of any home gym — but is available at a very reasonable price (of just under $150).

With regards to the details and practical factors you can position it at 4 different bench level positions: as a flat bench, a decline level, 45 degrees and at a right angle. It acts to hold correct form and posture whilst keeping you in a stabilized position when you are weight lifting with SelectTech 1090 dumbbells for instance.

The frame is built on heavy duty commercial quality steel, making it durable and extremely strong being able to accommodate for up to 480 lbs. It also comes with attached transport wheels so you can easily move it in and out of storage. You will also that it comes with a leg hold down brace for extra support on the decline position (it is removable, if it doesn’t suit your preference however).

Upon purchase it comes with a money back guarantee scheme that allows you to use it for up to 6 weeks and if you’re not happy with it within this period you can have it returned with a fully money back guarantee. You will probably have a fair idea on what exercises you are going to use the bench for already, but if you start to run out of ideas Bowflex also offer you a guide of over 30 exercise movements you can do with the bench. The 5.1 is essentially an upgrade to the 3.1, hence is slightly more expensive (but not too much more at just over $200) but it does offer you more options & greater variation when it comes to your workout.

Like the 3.1 it offers you complete support when your working out but is adjustable on 6 different levels: a 17 degree decline, flat, 30 degree incline, 45 degree incline, a 60 degree incline and finally a 90 degree incline.

Again, it is made from heavy duty steel and can withhold up to 480 lbs of weight at one time & it also comes with the removable leg hold down brace to help you with the decline movement.

Both models are quite similar, however there are some subtle differences with regards to the design and the extra variation that comes with the 5.1 (on 6 different levels) as opposed to the 3.1 (at just 4 positions). There is a price difference of about $50. So in terms of value for money I would go for the 3.1 series model, however if you are after more control and variation in your workout the 5.1 series would obviously be the model to go for.
