Can You Eat Essential Oils?

If you’re interested in the wonderful healing properties and health applications of essential oils, you’re probably asking yourself whether or not you can eat essential oils? It sounds like a faster track to the benefits, right? Well, there are no shortages of benefits and if you’re looking for which ones to start with, I recommend the following article about the best essential oils for healing.

Reading up on these oils, you’ll notice claims they can address just about anything that ails you. There are also testimonials aplenty, even from cancer survivors, who report they’ve recovered from a grim diagnosis with these highly concentrated plant essences.

However, you’ve probably also noticed there’s a dearth of information about how to actually use plant oils. It’s exciting to read all the information about how these oils can improve your health. But how do you take them? Some people claim they are safe to swallow. But is that true?

You’ll also find plenty of opposing viewpoints. Some aromatherapists warn against ever ingesting any essential oils. Others point to a list of oils that are likely to be highly toxic if ingested.

So how are you supposed to use essential oils?

How to Use Infused Oils

There’s no disagreement these essences are meant to be sniffed. The most efficient way to do this is to invest in a diffuser especially designed to create an aerosol mist of these concentrated aromatic plants.

The Greenair Spa Vapor diffuser, shown to the right, sprays oils into the air, in such a fine mist that they remain present for an extended period of time. The diffuser also changes colors to add to the relaxing atmosphere for this essential oils are intended.

Dilution of Oils

Aromatherapists also agree that some essential oils are designed to be either placed at certain meridian points on your body or rubbed into your skin. Most oil experts recommend against applying ‘neat,’ or full strength. The safest way to use an oil is to dilute it with what’s known as a ‘carrier oil,’ such as almond or jojoba oil.

Conflicting Opinions

In light of the fact these amazing plant essences have the ability to heal, as well as to harm, it’s a good idea to learn a little bit about safe use of essential oils. Some people have had allergic reactions to certain oils, so it’s a good idea to do a tiny test patch on your skin before applying a diluted oil.
