Who doesn’t love coffee? We all like to drink a cup of coffee in the morning to get an energy boost. But have you ever considered having your coffee with a martini? Yes, why not mix your coffee with your martini and get a coffee martini. If you mix it with whiskey, you can get an Irish Coffee, mix with gin and get a Dutch coffee.
RECIPE 1 : COFFEE MARTINI
This is a different take on a regular martini which contains either gin or vodka with dry vermouth. So to make a coffee martini you need the following.
2 oz vodka/ gin
1 oz strong coffee/espresso
1/2 of coffee liqueur ( Kahlua, Illyquore)
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and then add the vodka, espresso and coffee liqueur. Give everything a good shake. Next get your cocktail glass and pour out your Coffee Martini.
RECIPE 2 : IRISH COFFEE
This is a typical drink you will see on many menus in Irish restaurants. It’s quite easy to make and requires only a few ingredients.
1 cup of strong coffee
1 teaspoon of sugar (optional for taste)
1 – 2 shots of whiskey
whipped cream (optional)
Heat a tall drink glass with hot boiling water. Empty this out and make a regular cup of coffee in the glass. Next add the shots of whiskey. Any brand is fine but I use Paddys whiskey. Next stir all this together. If you want to add some sugar at this stage you so can. Finally top with whisked cream.
RECIPE 3 : DUTCH COFFEE
This is a Dutch recipe with again contains coffee.
1 Cup of coffee
1 shot of gin
1 teaspoon of sugar
As with the martini add this to a cocktail shaker which contains crushed ice. Add the coffee, the gin and sugar to this and give it a good shake. Finally pour into a glass and garnish with cream and mint.
