Setting up a nursery for your newborn is a very exciting time. It can also be very expensive. One of the places where you get some extra bang for your buck is by purchasing a convertible crib.

Children only stay in a crib for a brief period of time. This could possibly only be until she is two years old. Once they have grown out of it, you will have no use for this piece of furniture. It is time to change that.

What are Convertible Cribs?

Convertible Cribs

Convertible cribs are ones that can be changed into another useful piece of furniture once your baby has grown out of the sleeping in a crib stage. What your particular piece can change into will vary depending on the type that you get.

4 in 1 Convertible Crib

The most common and the one that will get you the most use is the 4 in 1 crib. You start off using this one with your infant until she is old enough to move to a toddler bed. At this point, changing the crib to a toddler bed is as simple as lowering the mattress and taking off the one side of the crib.

From the toddler bed, many children will then move onto a daybed. This convertible crib will easily change from a toddler bed to a daybed. When your child has outgrown this option, you take the back of the crib and use it as the headboard for a full size bed. Talk about money saving ideas!

2 in 1 Cribs

Now you might end up having another child later down the road or not want to have a bed that will stay with your baby until they move out. This is where the 2 in 1 convertibles come in handy.

This crib can convert to a toddler bed when the time comes for the baby to move out of the crib. These models can also easily change back if a new little one shows up on the scene.

Whether you opt for the model that you can have your child use until they move out or you just want to extend the use of this important piece of nursery furniture another year or two, you need to purchase a convertible crib for your baby.
