Could Your Diet Be Making You Look Older?

We already know that certain foods are not healthy for us. This includes foods that are loaded with sugar and processed foods. But have you ever stopped and thought about the fact that these foods can also cause us to look older? They do this by damaging the collagen of our skin and by causing inflammation. Over time, this inflammation can also lead to certain health conditions such as heart disease and diabetes.

What foods should we avoid if we want to look and feel younger?

We should avoid the foods that we already know isn’t healthy if we want to look and feel younger. These includes such foods as, according to the website Web MD.

• Deep Fried Foods – This includes such favorites as potato chips such as Lays and French fries including my favorite waffle fries. We definitely want to avoid foods that are made out of partially hydrogentated oils and vegetable shortening whether they were fried or not.
• Sugary Pasteries such as doughnuts, Pop Tarts, and Twinkies.
• Processed Meats- Processed meats are loaded with saturated fats and nitrates. These can cause inflammation. This can include such favorites as hot dogs, bacon, and pepperoni.
• Fatty Meats
• Alcohol: Moderate drinking is considerate healthy. Heavy drinking is considered unhealthy. It can cause a variety of health conditions. It can also speed up the aging process. Moderate drinking is one drink per day for a woman and two drinks per day for a man.

Foods we should be eating to look younger and feel better

Yes, there are certain foods that we should be striving to eat daily, if we want to look younger and feel better. This includes such foods as:

• Vegetables: This can include such choices as Romaine lettuce which is high in Vitamin A and C or broccoli or spinach
• Fruits: This can include such choices as: Tomatoes, watermelon or grapefruit.
• Whole Grains: This can include such choices as whole wheat breads, pastas, and brown rice. This can also include whole grain breakfast foods such as Post Bran Flakes, Raisin Bran, and Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats.
• Low Fat Dairy: This can include low fat milk.
• Omega 3 Foods: This can include salmon and tuna. Foods that contain Omega 3s can help fight inflammation
• Oatmeal: Oatmeal is a filling food. This is great to help one lose weight. It is also loaded with protein which can help one get the energy the need. Finally, oatmeal contains several B vitamins which can help protect the skin. It can help prevent the skin from developing rashes and help the skin heal any rashes it may already have. This is one reason that oatmeal is an ingredient in many facials

No, it isn’t always to eat the right foods. Having incentives to eat right can help one stay on target. Maybe knowing that eating right will make you look younger and help keep your skin firmer will be another incentive to help you put down that doughnut. It may also help you pick up a piece of fruit or a spoonful of fresh salad.
