Every Move You Make, Every Whisper, Every Shiver Absorbed Into Ultimate Reality
Not long ago, I read something about how the simple flap of a butterflys wings in, say, Minnesota, can start a chain reaction that ultimately provokes a fierce hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. Some smart guy had worked out the physics of how the smallest thing might explode into ultimate reality.
Really, I’ve known this for years, but this illustration made the importance of every move, every whisper more alive.
An inevitable consequence of universal connectedness is that whatever we do vibrates forever into infinity. Physical actions can’t be limited. Thought extends too but in a different domain, made up from different stuff. Thoughts are an integral factor in the ride.
The Importance of Every Move, Every Whisper, Every Shiver In The Physical World and Ultimate Reality
Imagine a pond, its surface still. A rock lands somewhere near the middle. Concentric circles swell from the spot where the rock disturbed the surface. Ultimate reality feels the pulse across infinity.
One action irreversibly results in another. Diverse reactions take place out of sight as our rock settles toward the bottom of the pool.
The spreading waves gradually become less dramatic, but ultimate reality hasn’t lessened anything.
Its tempting to think the power decreases, but it doesnt. It expands, broadening its range as it extends outward in every direction at once across ultimate reality.
The waves meet other forces, misunderstood as resistance. Energy transfers and mingles, without losing power. Energy is never sacrificed.
When we scratch your heads, as I just did mine, we start a new wave swelling across ultimate reality. Every time we kick a football, bat an eye, press our lips we influence, eventually, the entire cosmos. Its as impressive as it is misleading.
Imagine that pond again.
Our rock hits the water, gets its concentric circles rolling. Within the next few seconds, fifteen other rocks hit the same surface in different places. Then, fifteen more. None of the rocks are of exactly the same size and shape. Multiple waves of differing intensities overlap, crossing and extending.
Patterns are formed and dissolved. Although our first rock continues to expand its influence across all of ultimate reality, without end, so do all the others. Its soon not possible to separate one from the other, let alone which are merged or merged again.
To get a complete picture of how this works, wed have to visualize a trillion more stones hitting the water every second because that’s how things really work.
Other influences come into play. Wind ripples the surface. A frog swims a few inches beneath, and the sun shoots photons straight to the bottom. Our minds scramble for a magical shorthand. We believe we’re seeing it all, even as ultimate reality manifests farther and farther from our perceptions.
It gets worse. By the time we come anywhere close to getting a handle on this fantasy, a few trillion more rocks have already bombarded our pond.
Physical action is neither good nor bad. It’s inevitable, and each itch simply has isness. Each increases the randomness of reality.
Complexity promotes chaos sorted out in the far reaches of ultimate reality or appears to, but it may force organization too. It may just appear random and chaotic because our brains, constricted by logic, care so much about having a grip on things or seeming to.
Its a dilemma worth exploring, but for me, it eventually resolves to the simplest question.
I want to know who God is. So, who threw that first rock that vibrated everything into ultimate reality?
