Free Common Sense Weight Loss

With all the weight loss and dieting hype out there it’s easy to forget about free common sense, weight loss without the gimmicks. There are lots of diets out there that sell you food plans, workout CD’s, and supplements to help you lose weight. Just think about how television gives you all of those TV ads for Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, and Weight Watchers diet plans over and over again. Unfortunately for many of us, when we buy into these gimmicks, the only weight we lose is from our wallets. To be fair, some of us do lose weight on these diet plans but then we gain it all back and struggle to lose it again.

We gain weight because of bad food choices that become bad eating habits. Weight loss is a free and simple matter of making good food choices that lead to weight loss that you keep off for life. Overeating, poor diet, eating at the wrong times, and not getting enough exercise are four bad life habits that lead to us being overweight and even obese.

I’ve got a sweet tooth so I know what it’s like to be tempted to overeat. The fact that my wife’s a great cook doesn’t help me keep my weight down. But I can’t blame her or anyone else when I overeat. Portion control is a good way to fight overeating. So try eating smaller portions and push away from the table after eating one serving. Some people say, we should eat to live, not live to eat.

Poor Diet

Try to make good food choices the goal rather than worrying about what you shouldn’t be eating. Reward yourself with the good stuff like fruits and vegetables. Eating lots of fish is another way to combat a poor diet. Having fruits and nuts between meals is a great way to snack between meals. Cooking your meals also gives you control over how many calories you take in. Baking is a great way to help control your weight.

Eat at the Best Time

Eating at the right time can help you avoid weight gain. Most of us like to think that anytime is a good time to eat. Actually, there are times that we should skip a meal or at the very least eat a very light more nutritious meal. For example, eating right before you go to bed isn’t the best time to eat. Your body needs to shut down and rest at night but it can’t do that while you’re sleeping if it’s trying to digest a late meal. Likewise, when you eat a late meal, your digestive system can’t work like it should because it’s trying to sleep. This could cause you to wake up tired because your digestive system has been working all night. You also fail to lose weight or even gain weight when you eat before going to bed because your body doesn’t burn as many calories from late night meals. So try to eat early enough to burn off some calories before bedtime. That’s free common sense weight loss.
