Free Online Certificate Programs 2012-2013

Many well established universities and colleges are offering free certificate programs online either to get you to take a full degree program or to help people who could not otherwise afford to take courses a chance to better themselves and get a better paying job. The free courses and certificate programs are few and far between but they do exist.

M.I.T. University (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)- In December 2011, M.I.T introduced it’s MITx program. The program allows students from around the world to take free courses online and earn certificates in particular subjects.

M.I.T and Harvard Edx Collaboration– According to the Los Angeles Times May 2012 article, ”MIT’s and Harvard’s mission is to provide affordable education to anybody who wants it,’ Anant Agarwal, an MIT computer science and artificial intelligence expert who is edX’s first president, said in an interview. ‘Millions of people in the world don’t have access to quality education.’ The universities donated $30 million dollars each to fund this project to help people get a free education.

University of The People– is a free online university the offers free degree programs. As of September 2012, they ‘intend’ to apply for accreditation. This may not be for those who are looking for accredited certificate programs. However they do offer free degree programs online.

NCPA,s Free Respiratory Care Certificate Program-This program is a available primarily to Pharmacists who want to enhance services they offer to others.
