It is safe to say that the autumn season is here because when I look south toward the mountains I can see that the leaves are starting to change. I see that a few trees have red leaves and others have orange and golden leaves. Fall is the last season before winter so it is a good idea to have fun while you still can. Yes the fall season is finally here and today I am making a list for fun fall activities for my family.
Every year we get together with my brother to harvest the pears and apples in his orchard. It is an all day activity but it is always fun. The kids have a blast while the adults harvest the fruit.
When the harvesting is done we usually have a bowl of homemade chili-con-carne and then sit by a bonfire. My nieces and nephews roast marshmallows and if there are leaves on the ground we will all participate in a leaf jump, if not we will send them off on a scavengers hunt.
Another fall activity that my family enjoys is touring the corn maze and then picking out our pumpkin at a local farm. We participate in neighborhood gatherings; annual Jack O lantern carving contest and take the kids to country church bazaars and to picnics at the park.
Toward the middle to the end of October we will attend the Maple Leaf Parade and festival. The city wide festival lasts for an entire week, you pick up a map at the visitors center and then check off the activities that appeal to you. On the last day of the festival there is a grand parade, with marching bands from top high schools in the United States.
Yes the fall season is finally here and I am looking forward to having fun with my family. What are your favorite autumn activities?
