The heart is one of the most important organs and muscles that is in your body, so knowing your heart anatomy is critical in being able to self-diagnose if something is wrong, as well as maintain a healthy and happy heart that keeps beating. After all, if you don’t have a beating heart, then you don’t really have much time left to live, do you? So take the time to get to know your heart anatomy so that if something does happen, you could end up saving your life.

The Four Chambers

When it comes to heart anatomy, the best place to begin is the four chambers of the heart. Those are the right and left atrium and the right and left ventricle. Each chamber has an important valve that opens and closes with regularity that allows blood to flow efficiently through your heart without having blood leak back into a chamber that it has already occupied. This way you continue to get oxygenated blood circulating throughout your body, keeping you alive and healthy.

How It Works

When it comes to heart anatomy, knowing how it works is critical so that you can tell if something is wrong and seek medical attention immediately. Blood first enters your heart through the right atrium. From there it moves into the right ventricle and then out to your lungs in order to obtain oxygen. Once that blood has been oxygenated, it comes back through the left atrium, then travels into the left ventricle, and then out into your circulatory system. This process then repeats itself over and over with every heartbeat.

Why Heart Health Is Important

Knowing heart anatomy and what it takes to keep it healthy is important because, quite simply, your heart is your ticket to life. In order to keep your heart healthy, a proper diet of proteins, fats, fruits, and vegetables in reasonable qualities is necessary. In addition, regular exercise that increases your heart’s rate and output, like 20 to 30 minutes daily, will help keep that heart muscle lean, mean and beating strong for you all of the time..

How to Tell If Something Is Wrong

Knowing heart anatomy is critical to being able to tell if something is wrong with it. Is it not keeping a regular rhythm? Are you suddenly out of breath and lethargic? Do you have a tingling pain that is running down your arm, have a tightness across your chest, or a strange pain that is bothering you in your upper back? These can all be symptoms of a heart not working properly and should be examined by a doctor immediately.

Knowing heart anatomy is critical for maintaining a happy and healthy lifestyle. From regular exercise to eating a healthy combination diet, knowing what it takes to keep your heart anatomy happy will extend your life and help you be able to accomplish all the things you want to in life.
