can be summed up in one scripture. You all know it. John 3:16 says ‘For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting live.’ Even though this scripture alone is enough to show God’s heart, because it says that God ‘so Loved’ us, that He gave us something–his only natural born son. But there are countless more that show His undying love for us. Romans 8:32 tells us, ‘He that spared NOT his own son, but delivered him up for us all; how shall he not freely give us all things.’
Why Does God Love Us So Much?
He knew that without a savior, we were lost and doomed to the devil’s destiny for us, which is the Lake of Fire (Hell). He knew without someone to come along and shed innocent blood for us, we would have no hope at all. When Adam sinned in the Garden (c’mon, you know the story), sin passed to all mankind, making us all lost without God, by no choice of our own. We are all born lost, without a chance of redemption, especially if you’re not Jewish (Hebrews 9:22….without shedding of blood is no remission). God wanted to fix that, so he gave us Jesus. He gave Jesus to come to earth, take on the form and likeness (likeness only) of sinful man, show us how to defeat the devil and sin, and then be crucified on the cross as a falsely accused, innocent man, without sin, so that we could be redeemed back to God. He kept his promise and was faithful to his own heart.
Because He Loved Us
Jesus, the son of God was crucified and was buried. But that is not the end of him. After the third day, he rose again from the grave. You see, God had him do a whole lot more for us than just die; he had him come and defeat death, defeat Hell, and defeat the very grave, that was meant to be the end for us. And now the same powerful and Holy Spirit that was upon Jesus Christ and raised him from the dead, is upon and in us. And now we can defeat the devil, we can defeat Hell and the grave, and we can become the Sons of God and joint heirs with our big brother Jesus. We can even call God Abba Father (Aramaic for Daddy, Daddy!) Yes, he loved us so much that he did all that. He sent Jesus to show us how to defeat the devil, death, Hell, and the grave, and now because He is risen, He gave us the power to do the same.
Because We Love Him!
Now, since he did all that for us, we want to do even more for him. Jesus said in John 14:12, for everyone that believes in him, the works that he did, we will also be able to do, and even be able to go beyond what he did. And now that we have been redeemed, by believing in Jesus and inviting him into our lives, 2 Corinthians 9:8 tells us that God is able to make all grace abound toward us, that by us having sufficiency in all things, we can abound to good in everything we do. Say this prayer with me: Father, I believe you did all this for me, and I receive what you have done. Now fill me with the same Spirit that Jesus had, who raised him from the dead, defeating death, Hell, and the grace, and let it quicken me and make me alive, that I will abound to all good works. In Jesus Name. Welcome to the family of God!
