How to Lose 10 Pounds Fast

Everyone wants to lose weight fast, and you can lose some pounds fairly quickly, but you must understand that when you lose too quickly you are not losing fat, but water weight and some muscle.

Most people have a hard time wrapping their head around the fact that to get your body to let go of unwanted fat, you actually have to eat more. When you eat more of the right foods, and feed your body regularly, your body has no need to hold onto stubborn fat because it knows it will get the energy and food it needs on a regular basis. When you starve yourself, or don’t eat enough, your body will hold onto all the excess as it doesn’t know when it will get any nourishment again.

Eating breakfast is an important start to any weight loss regimen. After fasting for the many hours while you are sleeping, you need to eat within 1 hour of waking to break the fast, hence the name breakfast. Eating high quality proteins such as egg whites along with some type of whole grain is a great start to your day and gets your metabolism revved up and ready to burn fat all day.

Through the day, you should not go more than 3 hours without eating something healthy; a smoothie, some yogurt and a string cheese, some lean meat, such as chicken or turkey breast and some lowfat cheese are all good snacks or mini-meals.

Carbohydrates are not the enemy, but white, refined carbs are. Choose healthy whole grain options for your carbs such as 12- grain breads (read labels, whole wheat should be listed first), whole grain pastas, and sweet potatoes are good places to start.

Water is absolutely essential to your body and fat loss fight. Keeping the body hydrated allows it to flush out all the toxins and fat you want to shed. When you are not hydrated enough, your body will hold onto the water it has, and you won’t be flushing any toxins out of your system through urine. A good rule of thumb is to divide your weight by 2, and drink that number in ounces of water daily.

Adding any type of exercise is helpful of course. Simply doing some yoga, running up and down stairs for 5 minutes, or even a brisk walk are all great places to start. There is no need to do a formal, hour long workout daily, but just be active where you are able. It will make a difference and you will have extra energy from eating healthy and feeling great while your body sheds all that unwanted and unneeded fat.

You didn’t gain weight overnight, and it won’t go away overnight either. But, it can be done fairly quickly while still maintaining your health.
