Interesting things you can do in Vegas when you don't want to head to the Casino

It is common to hear people turn down the idea of visiting Vegas because they don’t gamble or visit strip clubs. This shouldn’t be the case. There are lots of things you can do in Vegas that don’t have anything to do with the strip. We will cover a few of them below.
Go to the Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon is far from Vegas but there are many companies that will gladly offer you day trips and joint helicopter rides to this beautiful location. Due to the time constraints, it is not possible to spend as much time as you would love here but it is still a great activity. You should skip this option if you are on a tight budget though, as it is pricey.
Go Red Rock Hiking
This magnificent Canyon is located just outside the city. Depending on what you choose, you can enjoy either easy or strenuous hiking, or mountain biking- a real thrill! The canyon is properly connected by road and there is a parking lot where you can leave your hire car. It is a good place to be if you are looking for an activity that will help you walk off all the calories you’ve just packed in at breakfast. Head out early in the morning and bring enough water with you. It gets pretty hot at midday.
Visit the Hoover Dam
The Hoover-Dam is very popular, and for good reason too. You can take part in guided tours around the dam and there is museum that is steeped in the history of the dam and the region itself. You will enjoy the tour and learn a few things about the construction of the dam. The dam offers some great picture opportunities too.
Visit the Boulder City
This is a suburb you will find on your way to the Hoover Dam. Here you can enjoy a taste of local life. The hottest restaurant here is Milos. There isn’t much to do in this place. There is one main street and a few shops. Even though it is a quiet little community, you will enjoy the time spent here if you want a change from rowdy Vegas.
See the Mob Museum
The Mob museum is located in down town Vegas. The museum showcases two sides of the now notorious battle between organised crime and the law. It was opened last year and was inaugurated by the Mayor Oscar Goodman. The presentations are high tech and there are artefacts and interactive exhibits as well. You will learn everything you need to know about the Vegas depicted in the popular gangster movies.
These are just some of the activities you can enjoy in Vegas without ever stepping into a casino. However, heed this word of warning; before you can travel to Vegas on holiday from the UK, law requires that you fill out an ESTA application. This is a pseudo VISA that serves as a pass into the US. It only takes a few minutes to get one and everything is done online. Make sure you get to it before you travel or you will be barred entry to the US.
