iRobot Roomba 595 Vs 770: Comparing the Roomba 595 and 770

Roomba 595 or 770 – Which is Best for You?

This account will compare the Roomba 595 and 770, through firstly providing an overview of both to give you a clear idea as to what they can offer you and then a section to pin-point their significant differences to allow you to easily decide which model is best for cleaning in and around your home (with an appreciation of price tags).

Roomba 595 Overview

Cleaning Technology & Navigation System

The 595 is effective in removing all types of debris (incl. dirt, dust, pet hair) from all types of flooring this is because it utilizes a unique and powerful ‘3 stage cleaning process‘ alongside two advanced cleaning programs: the dirt detect series 1 – that works on optical sensors to detect particularly dirty patches on your floor & then go on to thoroughly clean those areas and iAdapt responsive technology – which operates like a GPS system to navigate an efficient cleaning route whilst avoiding obstacles.

Battery Performance & Integrated Filters

With the 595 you can expect a single run time of approximately 90 minutes and once it is low on charge it will automatically return itself to the docking station to re-charge (which takes approximately 3 hours plus to fully recharge). You should also note that it is fitted with an AeroVac filtration system to capture allergens and dust particles & prevent them from being expelled into the air.

Features, Specifications & Accessories

As the 595 is most premium model in the Roomba 500 series it offers a fair few practical features such as: the scheduling program (so you can set the 595 to clean whilst you are away at work or on holiday) and two virtual walls (allowing you to contain the 595 to a cleaning area without the need for physical barriers). It also comes with a fair amount of accessories: cleaning brush kit and spare filters & brush bar sets.

Roomba 770 Overview

Cleaning Technology & Navigation System

With the 770 model the cleaning performance has been radically improved across all fronts — an improved ‘3 stage cleaning process’ with AeroVac series 2 (whereby the brush bars have a more efficient pick up rate and the suction power has vastly improved) as well as the i) Dirt Detect Series 2 – using both optical and acoustic sensors to find dirty patches and then carrying out the ‘persistent pass’ mode repeatedly covering the area until the 770’s satisfied its clean and ii) significantly updated & re-configured (and overall more intelligent) iAdapt responsive technology.

Battery Performance & Integrated Filters

The 770 can last upwards of 120 minutes and if it is about to run out of power whilst carrying out a job in hand, the 770 will takes itself back to the docking station to be charged and then return to the job is was originally carrying out until completion. The filtration system is also state of the art with a Dual HEPA filter mechanism in place to prevent even the smallest dust particles and bacteria from being released (ideal for those who suffer with allergy issues or are generally wanting a healthy clean air supply in their home) whilst the 770 is vacuuming.

Features, Specifications & Accessories

It also has similar features as the 595 like the scheduled 7 days a week program along with two virtual walls, but does also come with a larger bin capacity and bin indicator (so you don’t have to keep second guessing as to when the bin needs emptying).

Rating: 88% from over 400 reviews (sourced: amazon.com)

The Difference Between the 595 and 770

The main distinguishing factor is the vastly improved cleaning performance offered by the 770 in contrast to the 595 (with an improved cleaning process & more intelligent cleaning programs). It also has a stronger battery capability and is installed with Highly Efficient Particulate Absorption filters to ensure a clean healthy air supply for your home. On top of this (where both have the schedule program & virtual walls), the 770 also comes with the bin indicator.

Furthermore, there is a slight difference in design — where albeit they are both black and take on the classic minimalist circular shape — the 770 is larger & heavier (measuring: 13.9 by 13.9 by 3.4 inches & weighs almost 15 lbs) than the 595 (measuring: 13.25 by 13.25 by 3.4 inches & weighs approximately 12 lbs).

Which Robotic Vacuum Should You Buy a 595 or 770?

There is a difference in price of around $150 — the 595 being priced at around $350 and the 770 at $500. For me, I’d definitely go with the Roomba 770 given the far superior cleaning performance on offer. But which Roomba will you buy and why? note: if you like the look of the Roomba 770 but want room-to-room cleaning as well, you will love the Roomba 780.
