Kauai Weddings and Honeymoons

Kauai Hawaii, known as “the Garden Isle” is considered one of the most beautiful of the Hawaiian Islands. Because of this it is also one of the favorite tropical wedding, honeymoon and wedding anniversary locations. Kauai is one of the smaller islands in the Hawaiian island chain being the 4th largest island.

You can easily drive from one side of the island, around the whole island to the other side, check out the sights on the other side and make it back in one day. For this reason you can stay anywhere on the island and be able to plan day trips to check out other parts of the island. My family’s favorite section is the north coast near Hanalei Bay. It is usually a little quieter up there and as you move North of Hanalei Bay a little less tourist packed then other sections of the island.

Beach Wedding

Hanalei Bay is also one of the favorite locations for beach weddings . The bay protects the beach from some of the heavier wind and wild surf and there are large stretches of flat beach where you can hold the wedding ceremony. Plus its fame makes it an interesting wedding story, giving you the distinction of being married in Hanalei Hawaii!

The back drop of the mountains make for excellent wedding pictures as well as many couples like to take their wedding pictures wading in the relatively calm surf normally found in the bay. If you get the timing right you can take a shot of “Puff the magic Dragon” blowing smoke out its nostrils in the back ground!

Another favorite is Haena Beach Park (Maniniholo beach). This is one of the larger beachs, spread over an area of six acres. While it is a beautiful section of beach, the waves are usually stonger here. The large crashing waves can make for a great backdrop for you wedding pictures.

Hawaiian Honeymoon

After the wedding comes the Honeymoon! A beach cottage makes for a great romantic place to spend your honeymoon. Many cottages are at least somewhat secluded and at certain times of the year give you an almost private beach to relax on allowing you to show off your more daring bikini to your new hubby without too much more of an audience.

Some of the other romantic activities include horseback riding on the beach, or hiking to the very secluded beach on the upper north shore of the island like Anini Beach and Hideaways Beach . Kauai also has many nice night clubs and restaurants to spend the evening at. Some of the most popular are Cafe Portofino, Happy Talk Lounge, Keoki’s Paradise, Tahiti Nui,The Point, and Tradewinds South Seas Bar

Getting around Kauai

If you plan on seeing the island renting a car is a must. Taxis are very expensive and you’re not going to get very far walking. Some of the larger motels offer tour packages that will show you around the touristiest spots but it is worth getting a car to check out the less frequently traveled areas of the island.

A Kauai Hawaii vacation, wedding or honeymoon can be a little expensive but the memories make it worthwhile.
