Langley, Washington is a small town situated on the south end of Whidbey Island overlooking the Saratoga Passage. The town fronts the bay inlet and has a small protected marina for boats. The ferry terminal for transport to the mainland is located at Mukilteo and is a short 15 minute drive south. Actually you can drive around, across the Deception Pass bridge and on to SR 20 that drops you off in Mount Vernon. The closest larger community to Langley on Whidbey Island is Oak Harbor about a half hour north – yet still part of the island. This is also where you’ll find the location of the Naval Air Station.
Due to its size not a whole lot goes on in Langley. There is no real industry to speak of other than several farming areas and tourism. However there are restaurants, small mom and pop type shops and several cute bed and breakfast inns. That said Langley may be small town living, but it remains a quaint place to visit. It’s close enough to the mainland ferry terminal allowing folks to commute to Everett which is the home of the Boeing Plant airplane facility that employs Whidbey Island workers. Here you can connect to Seattle, but the commute time is not favorable for workers.
