Maroon 5 has been churning out the hits for a decade now but they were never an overnight sensation. Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Ryan Dusick and Mickey Madden were high school buddies who formed a band named Kara’s Flowers. Eventually they added guitarist James Valentine and re-christened themselves as Maroon 5. Still they did not catch on right away. In fact, Maroon 5 toured for nonstop for several years while in support of their album ‘Songs About Jane’. Their song ‘Harder to Breathe’ climbed the charts and Maroon 5 has never looked back.
‘Songs About Jane’ ended up with four hit songs including ‘This Love’, ‘She Will Be Loved’ and ‘Sunday Morning’. While touring to support the album they released two live albums. Maroon 5 won a Grammy in 2005 for Best New Artist. Shortly after, Ryan Drusick left the band due to injuries suffered during the relentless tour schedule. He was replaced by drummer Matt Flynn.
Their next album was ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’. The single ‘Makes Me Wonder’ was their first song to hit number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. More hits followed and Maroon 5 continued their tough road schedule playing tour after tour. Along the way they released an album of B sides and two more live albums.
In 2010, Maroon 5 released it’s third studio album called ‘Hands All Over’. Their biggest hit song came from this album. ‘Moves Like Jagger’ is a poppy song recorded with Christina Aguilera. The song hit #1 on the charts and sold over eight million copies making it one of the best selling singles of all time!

Debuting at #3 on the Hot 100 it eventually hit #2 and stayed in the top 10 all summer during 2012 making it one of the biggest songs of the year.
