Merry Christmas wishes and cards to my nephew – what children's book should I buy for him to read?

Merry Christmas wishes and cards to my nephew. What book should I buy for him to read? In early 2013, he’s going to be five-years-old. He may still not be able to read by the time December 25, 2012 arrives. I obviously am leaning towards a book that is for kids who are attempting to learn to read. Any book that I buy will be in English since that’s the only language he knows so far. He could have one of his parents read to him if I end up buying a book that is meant for older children to read.

There’s an athlete that plays American football who seems to e a charming person. I desire that my nephew to grow up and be similar to that person. The athlete’s name is Drew Brees, who also wrote an autobiography with assistance from Chris Fabry. The title of the book is Coming Back Stronger: Unleashing the Hidden Power of Adversity. The book explained the adversities Drew faced before he became a Super Bowl champ with a team that didn’t had a winning tradition. The New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl in February 7, 2010 (after the 2009 regular season) with Sean Payton being a head coach for the first time ever in his life.

Maybe buying a book about a fictional vehicle would be a good idea since he likes playing with cars. Instead of finding a children’s book involving vehicles, I think a book with good illustrations titled Stone Soup by Ann McGovern would interest many children including my nephew. It is a retelling of a Grimm Brother’s story with the origin of it lost and forgotten by people. This books shares a tale of what occurs when a elderly woman is asked by a young man for some food to eat. Most of the reviews on Amazon gave the book more than three stars.
