Moving Advice to Make a Smoother Residential Move

Like most people, do you think that moving is stressful? Here is some great moving advice to make your residential relocation NYC easier to deal with.

Before you start packing things, go through your cabinets and drawers. Get rid of photo frames you no longer need, pens that are broken, grocery bills and documents that are of no use to you, clothes that are worn out and you are sure you will not wear them again, toys your kids have outgrown, and so on so forth. There is no point carrying things with you to the new house that you won’t be using. Get rid of such stuff to save the packing hassle and expense.
Buy moving boxes and supplies if you are moving on your own. Get different sizes of boxes to accommodate different items. Make sure the boxes are strong and sturdy so that they do not break on the way. Do buy moving supplies too, such as bubble wrap, tape, and scissors to secure the boxes before loading them in moving vans.

Do not wait for last minute to pack your items. You can start packing things that are not that essential for you and others in the family. Keep a few pair of clothes and shoes and pack the rest to save on the hassle of packing everything on the actual day of moving.

Besides this, label all the boxes. This will make it easier for those who are loading the boxes to know what is there inside each box. When you reach your home, it would be easier for you to find the desired items. The labels would help you know what is there inside each box.
Contact your utility, phone, newspaper, magazine subscription companies to discontinue the services from your existing address and continue the service at the new address. Inform your bank about your new address and do not forget to pay all bills before moving.

If you are hiring a residential moving company NYC, draw a written contract stating all the terms and conditions regarding the move to avoid any nasty surprises later on. It is advisable to choose a company that provides moving insurance to cover up for any loss or damage that may occur on the move.
Finally, arrange for babysitter or take the help of your friends or neighbors if you have small kids. If someone would be there to take care of them, you will be able to manage the residential move easily and quickly.

Follow the tips shared above and you would be able to reduce much of the hassle and stress involved in residential move.
