With a difference of about $20, I would go with the HF3520 (the far more popular model) on the simple basis that you may respond better to i) a pro-longed gradual awakening e.g. 40 mins compared to 30 mins or ii) to a shortened one e.g. 20 mins compared to 30 mins, but the only way for you to test this out is by getting the HF3520 model.
Note: I found that I personally responded marginally better (i.e in terms of how I felt in the morning) with the longer duration of dawn simulation than compared to shorter time frames. But which wake-up light will you buy and why?
