Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) is the second movie in the comic-based Transformer franchise and was one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of 2009. Here is a candid review of Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen.
Brief Plot Outline of Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen
Sam Witwicky (Shia LeBeouf) has had quite enough of aliens and just wants to return to the normal life of an ordinary college student (with an extraordinary car and a super hot girlfriend). But, unfortunately for him, that is not to be. The Decepticons are back and they need access to Sam’s mind in order to unlock an ancient secret which was hidden somewhere in the Egyptian desert by a group of fugitive aliens long before the time of man. And, Sam must defend the secret with his life, for if revealed it, can blow out the sun.
Not only is Sam’s life in danger, the Decepticons are more than willing to use and hurt Sam’s parents and girlfriend, Mikaela (Megan Fox) in order to get to Sam.
Sam’s only hope of survival lies in his friends, the Autobots Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. But, they are heavily out numbered by the Decepticons and it is only a matter of time before they falter.
Review of Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen
As was expected, Revenge of the Fallen is an action packed slug fest, heavily dependant on special effects for its thrills.
Now, I must confess that I am not really a big fan of the Transformers series and the reason behind my watching the film was Megan Fox, and she was the only part of the movie I actually enjoyed. The plot is highly unconvincing even for a sci-fi film and there is hardly any suspense, subplot or drama, making the movie nothing more than a confusing sequence of loosely connected and mindless gun battles.
Future of the Transformers Franchise
The third movie of the Transformers franchise, Transformers : Dark of the Moon was recently released and was a smashing hit at the box office, making it one of the highest grossing movies for the month of June and laying to rest all speculations regarding the future of the Transformers franchise
