Fans of the popular Rurouni Kenshin anime or known worldwide as Samurai X would be delighted with this #109 Revoltech Rurouni Kenshin Himura action figure. Sculpted by Katsuhisa Yamaguchi for Revoltech and was released in 2011, This Kenshin Himura action figure was made to resemble Kenshin Himura in the Anime and Manga series so fans will instantly recognize this action figure with his iconic red kimono, white pants as well as his reverse edge sword attached to his side.
Comes with one 135mm tall Kenshim Himura Revoltech figure, 3 swords, 6 interchange-able hands, 2 interchange-able faces as well as one base and a mount for jumping poses.
This action figure is in Kenshin Himura’s iconic red kimino dress and white pants. I believe that they modeled this toy closer to the Manga rather than the Anime as his hair is longer and his face is fiercer (His face is a bit gentler in the anime). It is still a great toy because there are only negligible differences between those two versions. The 3 faces(including the one attached to the toy) is all angry faces with one looking to the left, one to the right and one front center. They all have the X scar on his left cheek. The 6 hands provided are variations of open handed, in a fist or grasping. They are meant to be used to grasp the swords as well as one pair of interchange-able hands(slightly closed fist) to grasp the blade of the slightly opened sword that is also provided with the toy. The two bases, one for standing poses and one for jumping poses are particularly useful if you intend to recreate or copy poses you saw in the anime like his classic Battou Style stance or his other sword style poses. It is actually very easy to pose this toy as there are 16 joints or points of articulation. The drawback with those joints is how they are sometimes unpleasant to look at. In some poses, he looks a bit robotic or mangled as there are notice-able spaces between the body of the toy and the joints. It is actually not a big deal as Revoltech toys are specially designed for poses which you could not do with other action figures made by other companies. I just wished they made those joints smaller as I sometimes use these toys in my stop animation films.
If you are looking for something you can play or pose with and not something for display, then I recommend this toy. However if you want something that looks as close to the real thing without the need to change poses, then look elsewhere.
