Roofing – Which Sealant To Use

-

Roof sealant is one of the vital parts of every roofing as it’s main role is to protect a roof from damage. Water, smoke, gas, dust, air and any other elements should be blocked by roof sealant. This is why it is important to choose the right product, you have to be sure that it will provide proper protection.

Considering that roofing is not all the same, the sealants also vary. Different types of roofs call for different types of sealants – tar, rubber, concrete, paint and other. Lets take a look at some of the most often used sealants for stationary homes.

Sloping and flat roofs are a part of every stationary home and they all need an appropriate sealant. The contractor will install the sealant for you, as a part of the home improvement contract. But you can do this by yourself as well. What you want to use here are sealant paint, since they dry fast and are easy to apply. If you are not sure how to do this on your own, you better call Premier Roofing and let them handle the details for you.

Concrete Sealant – it’s a mixture of durable materials that will protect the surface from damage. They are best used for flat roofs. When applied properly, this sealant will protect your roofing from water, as well as from physical harm.

Clear Sealant – acrylic urethane, polyurethane butyl, silicone and lacquers are some of the options you can use for sloping and flat roofs. They can be found in liquid form and are usually used on sloping roofs. They are easy to apply and will protect metal, tiles, grout and masonry.

Rubber Sealant – these are not the most popular choice, but they do their job just fine. Liquid rubber is a great sealant because it doesn’t protect your roofing from water only, it will protect your roof from any type of damage.

Paint Sealant – waterproof paints are a cheap choice when you are looking to seal your roof. They will protect your home from water damage and will protect the entire roof from chipping and cracking.

As you can see, there are plenty of options here. IF you are not sure which way to go, I strongly suggest you let your contractor do all the work. Call a company that has experience and is willing to consult with you for free.
