Roomba 595 vs 620, Breaking Down the Robot Vaccums

Roomba 595 vs 620 – Which is Best for You?

The following account will compare two classic Roomba robot vacuums the roomba 595 Vs 620 — through firstly providing a brief overview of both and then going onto highlight their differences, this will allow you to understand what both machines can offer you then from that identify which is the best model for you.

Roomba 595 Overview

Cleaning Technology & Navigation System

The Roomba 595 utilizes a three stage cleaning system (incl. AeroVac technology) to effectively remove dust, dirt & pet hair etc. from a range of flooring as well as two vital technologies to enhance its performance: i) the intelligent iAdaptive responsive technology that formulates (like a GPS) the most efficient cleaning path (whilst avoiding obstacles & drop-offs etc.) and ii) Dirt Detect that identifies particularly dirty patches & makes sure to thoroughly clean them.

Battery Performance & Integrated Filters

On average you should expect the 595 to run for around 90 minutes and once it has completed a task or is particularly low on battery it will automatically return to the home docking station to be charged. Moreover, it’s fitted with AeroVac filters to capture allergens and dust particles from being expelled into the air whilst its vacuuming.

Features, Specifications & Accessories

As the 595 is pretty much the premium model in the 500 series it comes with a whole range of features including: the 7 day a week on board scheduling system (so you can set it to clean whilst you are away), two virtual walls (to contain the vacuum to clean a particular area without the need for a physical presence) — the 595 also comes with extra filters and sets of brushes. With regards to design it is circular and quite compact compared to the 600, 700 & 800 series Roomba vacuums: measuring 13.25 by 13.25 by 3.5 inches and weighing in at just 13 lbs — with a black matte glossed finish.

Roomba 620 Overview

Cleaning Technology & Navigation System

Although, the Roomba 620 essentially uses the same 3 cleaning program process as the 595 as well as the other two cleaning software programs: dirt detect & iAdapt Responsive technology — there have been improvements with regards to a stronger suction from the AeroVac & cleaning brushes (more effective in pick up & gets clogged less often) as well as the iAdapt technology undergoing several updates (and a slightly bigger bin). This being said, ‘on aggregate’ it won’t completely outshine the 500 series like you’d expect (you would need a 700 or 800 series model).

Battery Performance & Integrated Filters

The run time is a little longer at around 120 minutes & it will likewise return automatically to its docking station e.g. if its halfway through finishing a job but is about to run out of power, it will go re-charge itself & come back to finish the job in hand, then once done return back again. It is also integrated with the AeroVac filters to ensure a clean and healthy air supply in your household.

Features, Specifications & Accessories

As this is a basic model (in the 600 series) it doesn’t really offer you the same sort of extras as the 595 does. It is slightly larger with dimensions: 13.4 by 13.4 by 3.6 and weighs approximately 13 lbs — being finished in a white shade.

The Difference Between the Roomba 595 vs 620

They are rather different models: the 620 is the better overall cleaner (although quite marginally), however the 595 offers a lot of features and extra accessories (the filters, brush bar set) that the 620 simply doesn’t such as: the scheduling program & virtual walls. Subtle differences come in their design (the 595 being finished in black & 620 in white) with the 620 being slightly larger and heavier, although not significantly so.

Which Robotic Vacuum Should You Buy a 595 or 620?

The Roomba 595 and 620 are very similarly priced, both around the $370 mark (usually the 620 is a little less expensive on average though) – so which to get? It depends on what you’re after, the 620 might just edge it cleaning wise but the 595 offers far greater practicality (especially with the on board scheduling program) & so for me on balance, I recommend you go with the Roomba 595. But, which Roomba will you choose and why?
