Thomas Montgomery Newman is the composer behind the Side Effects movie soundtrack. Newman, who is also a conductor, is a very well-known film composer. His works earned him a total of eleven nominations from the Academy Awards. However, he is yet to win an award. As of 2012, he stands at eleven nominations and zero wins from the Academy Awards. The films he scored that received nominations were Little Women, The Shawshank Redemption, Unstrung Heroes, American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Finding Nemo, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Good German and WALL-E.
Although he never won an Academy Award, Newman is a recipient of one BAFTA award, one Emmy Award, and five Grammy awards. He won the BAFTA for his work on the animated feature Finding Nemo. His Emmy came from his work on the series Six Feet Under. And the Grammy’s were in recognition for his work on American Beauty, Six Feet Under, and WALL-E.
Newman’s huge body of work include scores for Gung Ho, The Lost Boys, Scent of a Woman, Meet Joe Black, The Green Mile, In The Bedroom, Erin Brokovich, White Oleander, Road to Perdition, The Salton Sea, Jarhead, Cinderella Man, The Debt, Revolutionary Road, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, The Iron Lady, the Adjustment Bureau, and The Help. The Side Effects movie soundtrack will be his first film score for the year 2013.
About The Movie: Side Effects is a psychological thriller drama about a young woman messing around with prescription drugs while she waits for her husband to be released from prison. Her abuse of said drugs sets off events that could change the lives of the people close to her.
