If someone in your family is suffering from Impetigo then you are probably really anxious to know how you can help it to heal as fast as possible, and which treatments work best. Well there are several ways in which you can accomplish this…
Before I begin however, you need to understand that this is a serious bacterial infection, therefore it is contagious and can spread to others if they are exposed. It can enter through your nose, mouth, or any breaks in the skin – like bites, cuts or scrapes.
Once the bacteria enters the person’s body, it will begin to spread and reproduce very rapidly, and could possibly lead to severe complications and/or other problems if left untreated. So please take precautions. If you are unsure about doing this yourself, then please seek the help of your physician.
Symptoms Of Impetigo
If someone happens to become exposed, after a few days they will begin exhibiting symptoms. Here are some things you should look for…
- First they will develop a fever.
- Then they will begin to develop itchy red blisters or sores covering a specific region of the body. This could be somewhere on the face, mouth, arms, legs or buttocks.
How To Cure Impetigo
In curing this disease you have to give your body the help it needs to fight off the infection, and you can do this in two ways…
1) By giving your body the essential enzymes, minerals, vitamins and nutrients that it needs in order to boost your immune system.
2) And by healing the blisters and sores, there-by causing them to scab over and fade away as soon as possible.
These two strategies are key in knowing how to cure Impetigo. You just need to tackle it from both angles, not just one. Below I’m going to give you a few ways you can go about treating this disease. I’m going to break things down into a few simple steps that you can easily follow.
Building Up Your Immune System
STEP 1: The first step is eating a diet that is good for Impetigo. A lot of people tend to ignore diet, but believe it or not, this is an extremely important step in curing this disease. There are certain foods you can eat that will help fight off this infection much faster, and there are also foods that will slow down your recovery.
You want to make sure you increase the omega-3 fatty acids in your diet by using extra-virgin olive oil, and balance it out by eating more raw, organic fruits, vegetables, whole grains and other foods that are low in animal-based proteins. I specify raw food because it is full of living water, it is easy for your body to digest, and it is loaded with the nutrients your body can begin using immediately.
You might also want to include a few anti-inflammatory herbs like turmeric and ginger, and since raw garlic is a powerful infection-fighter that has natural antibiotic properties, why not include this in your diet. However I’m not sure about giving garlic to young children. That is something you will have to research and decide for yourself or with your physician.
You do want to stay away from anything that has partially hydrogenated oils, polyunsaturated vegetable oils, vegetable shortening, margarine, and any foods that contain trans-fatty acids. You should also avoid dairy products, breads, meat or anything that your body has a hard time digesting. It’s also important that you keep your body properly hydrated, so be sure to drink plenty of water.
Healing Impetigo Rash And Blisters
STEP 2: The next step is tackling the sores, blisters and rash. You can relieve the itching by using a bathing procedure that allows you to soak the infected area underwater by using special remedies for Impetigo, or you can try a liquid antibacterial soap, an oatmeal bath, a baking soda bath, brown vinegar bath, or a bleach bath.
The bleach bath consists of mixing 1/8 cup of Clorox bleach into your bath water and soaking for 10 minutes once a day. This will sterilize the skin and some people have gotten very good results using this method.
STEP 3: Right after your bath, you should apply whatever cream or lotion your physician has given you, or you can use special oils or honey. This helps relieve the itching and will also help heal the sores and blisters faster.
You can also use topical solutions made from tea tree or tamanu oil. They are excellent antibacterial properties.
Something else you can try is honey, but the one you should use is Medihoney that comes from Australia or manuka honey that comes from New Zealand. You can check your health food store to see if they carry them. Since you want to be able to insert this honey into your nasal passage if necessary, you do not want to use ordinary honey from your grocery store.
Using Traditional Chinese Medicine
The Chinese call Impetigo huangshi chuang, which translated means, yellow-discharge sore. Their treatment consists of herbs you can use internally and externally. The ones used externally are usually mixed with sesame oil.
There are 3 main types of Impetigo in Chinese Medicine and they are Summer Heat, Damp Heat Stagnation and Toxic Heat. Below is an explanation for each one and an herbal formula you should be able to purchase from a health food store.
Summer Heat is a condition categorized by itchy, oozing skin eruptions, fever, sweating and lethargy. The herbal formula you can use is called Qing Shu Yin.
Damp Heat Stagnation is categorized by easily broken, oozing, itchy blisters, and large eruptions surrounded by a red, inflamed area. The oozing goes on for a long time before forming a yellow crust. The herbal formula they use is called Long Dan Xie Gan Tang.
Toxic Heat the symptoms consists of a severe fever with or without sweating, severe bright red blisters with no defined border, and will feel either warm or hot, and could possibly affect your entire body. The herbal formula they use is called Wu Wei Xiao Du Yin.
Using These Treatments
Just by following these proven steps, thousands of adults and children that have had Impetigo have been able to cure their symptoms completely all within 3 days after the first blisters appeared.
So take action right now because there are a lot of things you can do that can lead to you or a child being 100% symptom-free of Impetigo in as little as 72 hours. The best thing is to start applying some of the above solutions so that you can begin working to eliminate this infection from your body or your child’s body as soon as possible.
If you decide to treat this infection, you don’t want to sit around too long waiting for it to go away on its own. If you did wait, that person could possibly have a 7 to 21 day wait period, and I don’t know about you, but that is just too long to subject yourself or your child to the misery and unpleasantness of Impetigo.
A lot of people let this disease linger around in their bodies for longer than is necessary, and I believe the reason is because they don’t understand the simple solutions that can be very effective in treating it. Not only that, but the longer you wait – as I stated above – the more complications you might run into.
These treatments are just that, treatments you use at home. If you feel medical assistance is needed then you should seek the advice of your physician.
