Ten sure shot tips to speed-up your computer

Speed-up your system

At times, our computer will be deadly slow and take several minutes to open a small file. How this situation can be avoided and speed up the system? .You may find answer to this on reading this.
Main Reasons for system slow down

1. Virus Attack
2. Low RAM
3. Low disk space in the drive in which operating system is installed
4. Loads of unwanted software installed
5. Crowded internet cache
6. Crowded desktop and recycle bin
7. Hardware problem
Don’t worry about the technical terms mentioned above; the problem can be easily solved.

1. Clean the desktop

Desktop is not the place to store files but the place to keep icons of important programmes. So if your desktop is crowded with files clean it by removing files to other drives such as, D, E, F, etc. Sometimes the task bar also will becrowded with several icons; this also slow down the computer. Remove unwanted icons from the task bar by right clicking on it and deleting. Task bar is located at the bottom of the desktop (Those who know task bar may please be excused).

2. Clean the recycle bin

The files we delete from our computer goes to the recycle bin first. This is a safety measure to protect our important files. If we delete it by mistake, we get a chance to restore it from the recycle bin but in due course, the recycle bin would be crowded with deleted files and slow down the system. So clean your recycle bin regularly by going to recycle bin, Ctrl+A and delete.

3. Delete temporary internet files

Temporary internet files are remaining of our browsing data that automatically keeps on the computer. In due course, this also will slow down the system. Delete these unwanted files by going to start then type run in the search box; when the run programme appear; type- %temp% and hit ENTER key. Now you can see the temporary internet files stored in your computer. Delete all these files.

4. Remove files from the drive in which operating system is installed

It is not recommended to store other files in the drive in which operating system are installed. In most cases, the operating system will be installed in drive “C”. If you are no sure about in which drive the operating system is installed, open each drive and see where the windows folder and programme files folder is located. In order to speed up the system move your personal, not the system files to other drives. This will free some space and speed up the system considerably.

5. Uninstall unwanted programmes

When install useful programmes some unwanted programmes will also be get installed. These programmes are integrated with useful programme as part of their advertisement. These programmes will be a nuisance later by opening automatically and slowing down the system. The only option is to uninstall all unused and unwanted programmes from the system. Then, how to do it? go to Control Panel classic view, click on Programmes and features; there you can see the list of programmes installed in your system; have a look at each of them and see that whether it is useful for you. Find out the unwanted programmes and uninstall by right clicking on it.
Even though we uninstall the programme, some part of the programme will remain in the system. I order to avoid this one free software known, as Revo Uninstaller is available to download from the internet, which is useful to uninstall programme from the system without a trace of it.

6. Install an effective antivirus software to protect system from viruses

Viruses slow down system and destroy valuable files. So install antivirus software and scan your computer for viruses. “Avast Free Antivirus” is my recommendation since I have been using it with success for the last three years. If your computer is already infected with viruses, install Avast and perform a boot-time scan, which can remove almost all viruses. I am sure this can speed up your system largely.
Formatting the system and a fresh installation of all software is the better option if your computer is infected with viruses. This can solve almost all problems related with virus attack.

7. Use some third-party programme

I recommend a free software from my personal experience to clean your computer’s temporary internet files, history and registry. It is “C cleaner.” It is free and can be downloaded from internet.

8. Restrict auto-start of programmes

Several programmes try to start automatically at system startup. This delays the booting process and wastes our time. Actually, we do not need many of these programmes. In order to restrict auto-start, download and install Revo Uninstaller, which has an option to restrict auto-start.

9. Increase RAM

RAM is the short for Random Access Memory. In simple words, it is the memory required by the computer to do calculations, cut, copy, paste, running software, etc. Low RAM means slow computer. RAM required by a computer is mainly depend on the amount of work that computer does. Graphic design, photo and video editing, etc, require more RAM but in normal case 2 GB RAM is enough for smooth functioning of a computer. So if the RAM is low, increase it.

10. Repair Motherboard if necessary

If you have done all the options above and still your system is slow, it is the time to get your system’s motherboard repaired so hurry to a technician.

I hope all possible options are described here to speed up system. If it is useful, please comment on, that is my inspiration to write more.
