The Best Jewelry Clasps for My Creations

I think I have tried and used almost all of the jewelry clasps styles. I can’t explain why I am fascinated with them. Clasps may not have that breathtaking appeal found in other jewelry components, but I consider them one of the most important parts of a necklace or bracelet, and even earrings. When I was just starting making jewelry pieces, I used to create my own clasps, particularly the fish hook clasps that I use for my fish hook earrings creations. However, as my hobby grew into a small business, I decided to include them in my purchase of wholesale jewelry making supplies.

There are many types of jewelry clasps in the market today and each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. Some styles are more secure; others can be used more easily. Some of them look very simple while there are others that look elegant and expensive. There is an appropriate clasp style for every jewelry design and I always see to it that I use the proper style for each of my necklaces, bracelets and earrings. I have in stock several styles, because I have learned to buy wholesale jewelry making supplies since I started my jewelry business.

Of all the jewelry clasps that I have, my two favorites include the fish hook clasps and the barrel clasps. The fish hook clasps can be used for both necklaces and bracelets, and they are also called the hook and eye clasps. For earrings, these clasps are simply thin pieces of metal wire shaped like a fish hook. It passes the ear hole and holds the earring hanging down. These are the clasps that I used to make before I started buying wholesale jewelry making supplies on the internet. They are easy to make and I have some earrings with this type of clasps and I found them comfortable to wear. I find them secure enough, although I worry sometimes that I may lose my earrings when they ride up and out of my ears.

Another favorite is the barrel type jewelry clasps. These consist of 2 parts with each side looking like half a barrel. When screwed together, they form a barrel. The mechanism makes these clasps very secure to use. One problem that my customers find using these is the difficulty of use, especially the very small ones. Luckily, I found an alternative to the screwed barrel clasps and it is the magnetic type. This is perhaps the easiest to open and close. The screw sides are replaced by magnets and I need only to make them come close to each other and they will already attract. The security these clasps offer depends on how strong the magnets are. I was never able to create this barrel clasp but rather bought it together with my wholesale jewelry making supplies.

I love speaking with other jewelry makers, whether they are professional jewelry designers or plain hobbyists who are just starting out. When they speak to me about their concerns in creating jewelry pieces, the subject would always be about the price. One would complain about the high price of jewelry clasps and other findings, and the other would want to know how to buy wholesale jewelry making supplies. You see, when you interact with people in the field which is similar to yours, you get to share with them your knowledge and you are able to help them resolve an issue, whether it is big or small. You can also learn from them some things related to making jewelry.

When I say that I always buy wholesale jewelry making supplies, it is very apparent that I do my purchases online. Whether I need some jewelry clasps or other findings, I always go to the internet to buy them. I have become very comfortable dealing with some wholesalers having worked with them for several years. At first I was a bit hesitant to go online; I was worried that I may encounter problems when I give my credit card information to the store. I didn’t want to become a victim of identity theft and other spam on the internet.

I started buying from online shops only when I felt very inconvenient running from one thrift shop to another whenever I ran out of supplies such as jewelry clasps, beads, jewelry wires and more. Conducting a good research on the internet proved to be helpful. The wholesalers that I came to deal with are very reliable and trustworthy. My orders were shipped as promised and they have a good return policy. Since then I have been happily buying wholesale jewelry making supplies from them, and there has never been any issue in my buying process.
