The Kitchen Is Still The Heart Of The Family Home, SeekytWe often end up spending the majority of our time in the kitchen. Whether it’s preparing a meal or socialising with friends, the kitchen is a room that brings people together. To make it even more special, how about giving it an upgrade with one of our design ideas? We decided to carry out some research while in Kent, and took a look around some kitchen showrooms in Canterbury, and spoke to a few kitchen designers about current trends.

Right now, modern kitchens are more popular than ever. For a sleek look, keep detailing to a minimum. Flat panel cabinets with concealed handles will give your kitchen a streamlined look. As far as a colour scheme goes, the brighter the better! For your units and splashbacks, bold shades such as red and blue in glossy finishes are the way to go. Or for a minimalist look, go for pure white.

Everyone is trying to introduce some vintage style at home, and that extends to the kitchen. For some inspiration, how about the all-American diner? Black and white tiles paired with classic white units with retro handles are the perfect place to start. Then add red accessories, 1950’s style pictures and some classic metal barstools.

A country chic scheme is one that never goes out of vogue. Classic, rustic units are the order of the day here. Oak is the epitome of the country look, with its timeless, homely feel. As far as décor  goes, look to current trends for some inspiration. Shades of duck egg blue paired with floral accessories are a great way of keeping this style current.

Hopefully you’ve picked up some inspiration from these suggestions! The kitchen is a room that does a lot for us, so it’s time that it got some love back. After it’s been revamped, it won’t just be the heart of the home – it’ll be the pride of it too. One thing is for sure – the kitchen is still the heart of the home, so it’s important that it’s a room that reflects your tastes.
