We all know that we should keep our cholesterol levels down. It is an important part of staying healthy. However, what most people dont do is exercise and eat right in order to keep their cholesterol levels down naturally. Instead they rely on medication and continue to live an unhealthy lifestyle. This could prove to be just as fatal as not watching what you eat.
Effects of Cholesterol
Cholesterol is a natural byproduct of eating and living. In fact, even if you skip eating meat all together, you will still have cholesterol in your blood stream. This is because it serves an important function. This waxy fat-like substance that is mostly created in the liver helps to digest foods, create vitamin D, and produce hormones. However, too much cholesterol leads to severe downsides.
When the bloodstream has too much cholesterol, waxy plaque can start to build up in the arteries. This buildup causes the blood flow to slow down. When that buildup cause the flow to the heart to get too slow, you could suffer from a heart attack.
Effects of Eating Properly
The body is built and designed to handle a lot of different kinds of foods. However, it is not built to handle a lot of fried foods, fatty foods, and extra sugary foods. These can lead to negative consequences. But if you eat a diet that is full of unprocessed fruits and vegetables, with some lean meats and whole grains, your body will function the way it is supposed to. The effects will be that your cholesterol levels are low, you have a ton of energy, and you are incredibly healthy.
Effects of Cholesterol Medication
Many people find that eating properly and getting exercise is too much work. So instead they choose to resort to cholesterol medication. While these medications can work well to help reduce an individuals cholesterol levels, they also have some serious side effects. Most people have some sort of muscle soreness when they take these types of drugs, and some even have severe muscle deterioration. Other problems that can arise from taking cholesterol drugs are kidney damage and diabetes.
Because there are so many side effects while taking these drugs, most doctors will recommend that you skip the medication all together, and choose a healthier lifestyle.
