The Top Five Reasons to Become an Entrepreneur in 2015

If you’ve been considering quitting your job and going out on your own to pursue a business idea or turn your hobby into a money-making venture, 2015 may be the ideal time to take the plunge. According to this blog by Kimanzi Constable on Entrepreneur, since you spend at least 40 hours each week working, you may as well be doing it for yourself and making one of your lifelong dreams come true. These top five reasons to become an entrepreneur in 2015 just may inspire you to make some profound life changes.

Control Your Destiny

When you’re employed by someone else, your destiny is in their hands. The powers that be can choose to fire you, demote you or give you highly unpleasant job activities to do during your time at work. Becoming an entrepreneur allows you to take control of your own destiny and not be at the mercy of the moods or whims of someone else.

The Top Five Reasons to Become an Entrepreneur in 2015

Becoming an entrepreneur means that your work fits into your life. You’ll have the freedom to work just a few hours one day if that’s what you want to do. You’ll be able to set your own work hours and schedule, your own dress code and your own work space. Having the flexibility to spend a Tuesday visiting an old friend who came to town or to snuggle on the couch with a sick child is rare when you work for someone else but much more doable when you work for yourself.

Unlimited Earning Potential

Working for someone else means receiving wage increases or bonuses that are not always tied to your performance, initiative or motivation. When you work for yourself, you get out of it what you put into it. You’ll have a virtually unlimited earning potential when you become an entrepreneur. Compare that to an annual cost of living increase or typical two to four percent wage increase and you’ll find that working for yourself can be much more financially viable.

Live and Work Anywhere

According to Travel Africa, working for yourself as a photographer allows you to live and work just about anywhere. You could go on safari in Africa if your entrepreneurial business is related to photography or writing. If your dream is to be a fashion designer, perhaps a move to Paris is in order. When you work for yourself, you can set up your business anywhere that your idea makes sense. You could even travel the world if that is what appeals to you.

Make a Legacy

Being an entrepreneur allows you to leave a legacy tied to your name. Maybe you would like to start a business that could be passed on to one of your children or another family member. Or perhaps you would like your work to be of benefit to a charity with a cause that appeals to you. Entrepreneurship allows you to leave a lasting financial and emotional legacy to others.
