What is a vegetarian cleansing diet and detoxification all about? A vegetarian cleansing diet is a form of detoxification and is designed to cleanse the body of toxins.These days most of us desire to become healthier since America’s unhealthy lifestyle is the new silent killer. This is one reason why many people are looking into new healthy diets and vegetarianism just happens to be one of them.

Personally, I have been a vegetarian for nearly 40 years and been through detoxification process several times. Fasting isn’t required, but it will intensify the body cleansing process. Fasting will also help you develop discipline with poor eating habits. After all, if you can go without eating food for several days it makes turning down dessert or junk food seem like a walk in the park.

There are many types of detox diet programs to choose from, however, you need to proceed with caution. Making drastic changes in diet, especially when there are health conditions to consider, is unsafe. Nonetheless, you can start with small doable goals that will prepare you for a vegetarian conversion.

First of all, what are the toxins in the body we speak of? Basically, we’re talking about additives, chemicals, sugars, trans fats, animal fats and so forth found in foods. Additionally, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine and drugs(prescription or illegal) are considered toxins that rob the body of nutrients.

If you’re starting to get panicky this is normal, we all do when it comes to giving up our beloved toxins. The good news is you don’t have to do it all at once. In fact, it is better to cut down or cut out one toxin at a time. For example, if you’re used to drinking sugary drinks at meals switch to water for 2 of them.

It’s also a good idea to start eating a meal or two a day that doesn’t include meat. This is how you prepare the body for detoxification safely and not experience overwhelming toxin withdrawals. Toxin withdrawals can be physical or psychological, so you need to prepare yourself for both.
