Vornado 660 or 733 – Which is Best for You?
Updated July 13, 2016. Here, we will compare two very popular air circulator fans from Vortex (specifically intended for whole room vortex circulation), despite them appearing very similar and carrying out ultimately the same job — they do have some subtle differences between them — and this is what the Vornado 660 vs 733 comparison account will highlight.
Vornado 660 Overview
Airflow Performance: The Vornado 660 Whole Room Air Circulator is essentially a mid-size air fan capable of shifting air forcefully as far as a 100 ft — whilst generating complete air circulation within an entire room, to provide a uniform reduction in room temperature along with a general comforting feel.
Speed Settings: 4 (low, med, high & turbo) | High Speed RPM: 1375 | Low Speed RPM: 600
Vornado Design & Practicalities
In terms of design, it takes on a unique and modern (albeit minimalist) black gloss look, hence able to fit in seamlessly into most room decor. The 660 was manufactured to be flexible, so you can direct the airflow pretty much wherever you’d like (i.e ‘multi-directional’) — being able to fully tilt the 660 horizontally and vertically.
Dimensions: 15 by 11.75 by 13.5 inches | Weight: 7.32 lbs | Grill: 10.38′ | Electronic Buttons
Features & Settings
Moreover, the 660 is incredibly simple to clean as you can remove the grill & fully adjustable chrome glide bar — and hence get straight into the main components where the 660 clogs with dust. It is worth noting that it is also both energy efficient and ‘whisper quiet’ in operation.

Vornado 733 Overview
Airflow Performance: A slightly larger ‘full-size’ model, again capable of shifting a powerful air flow right up to 100 ft through ‘Vortex Action’ — although it can actually force the air to move at a greater velocity than the Vornado 660. This, in turn, makes the Vornado 733 Full-Size Whole Room Air Circulator (Amazon Link) more capable in being able to ‘rapidly’ reduce room temperatures as well as to a greater extent.
Speed Settings: 3 (low, med, high) | High Speed RPM: 1550 | Low Speed RPM: 900
Vornado Design & Practicalities
Slightly larger and weightier than the 660, but the 733 is still pretty much the same device (being multi-directional) — finished in black with smooth edges. Moreover, it is again very easy to clean as you can remove the grill and clean the blades straight off (it also comes with a built-in handle for easy transportation from room-to-room).
Dimensions: 15.25 by 14.9 by 14.8 inches | Weight: 8.48 lbs | Grill: 12′ | Mechanical Switch
Features & Settings: The 733 is also regarded as being energy efficient and if you compare the 733 with the same air flow velocity as the 660 — it is marginally quieter too.

Vornado 660 vs 733, Comparing the Key Differences
As seen in a comparison of the Vornado 660 vs the 733 – the 733 can produce a slightly more powerful air flow than the 660 (given its bigger blade size: 11.25 inch compared to the 660’s 10.14 inch and operating at a higher RPM, on top speed) – but both force air to shift up to an impressive 100 ft (so can both effectively be used for large rooms). This being said, when the 660 utilizes the turbo mode it can actually create an air velocity of 584 CFM (that’s just marginally better than the 733’s 583 CFM).
The 660 does actually slightly more variation with regards to air velocity given the extra speed setting it has available (they also have a different control style with the 733 being mechanical and the 660’s being electronic, no real significance in mind).
Which Air Fan Circulator Should You Buy the 660 or 733?
The 660 is $10 more expensive than the 733 — and considering they perform a very similar task (of providing a refreshing air circulation for large rooms) & the 733 is the more powerful model, this would be the model I’d go with. This being said, I can appreciate why others would go for the 660 given that it is lighter (hence easier to move around) and has more variation when it comes to air flow speeds. But, which Vornado will you buy and why?
