Game, Set and Match in Style This October!
There’s no better place to watch the best tennis players in the world than in the beautiful surroundings of Singapore.
If you’re a big tennis fan, then you’ll already be excited for the WTA Tour Finals. While the male players play for the prestigious end of year title in London, the female stars of the sport battle for the chance to be crowned the year-end champion in Singapore. One of the most exciting tourist destinations in the world, it’s a great choice for a holiday. So why not combine the two and see some of your tennis idols play in the flesh?
The word’s best players face each other for the last time
The WTA Tour Finals are the last major tournament of the WTA season. The world’s top eight players will play each other for the chance to become the year-end champion. For the past three years it’s been the seemingly unbeatable Serena Williams taking the title.
Will she continue that winning streak this year, or will a new queen of tennis announce herself on the world stage? A firm favourite with fans from all over the world, these championships are a great chance to watch players of only the highest calibre. It’s the World Cup of the women’s tennis circuit!
A world class destination
Rated as one of the top luxury destinations in the world, Singapore is a fitting home for a tournament that celebrates sport of the highest quality. The championships will take place at the Singapore Sports Hub, one of the nation’s premier sports venues. If you’re looking to stay close by, then the V Hotel Lavender is a great choice. It has a stunning outdoor swimming pool and sports centre – ideal if your favourite tennis players have inspired you to get active. You can also take in views of the city from the rooftop terrace. We can’t think of anywhere better to relax with a cocktail after a day spent watching some quality tennis. It’s just a 25 minute drive away from Changi International Airport too, so you can get your holiday started within an hour of stepping off of the plane.
Exploring the local area
You’ll probably want to experience some more of what Singapore has to offer as well. The stadium and neighbouring hotels are located in the area of Kallang, in the south-eastern part of the country. There are plenty of shops for those who want to bring a few souvenirs home.
The Kallang Wave Mall is located in the Singapore Sports Hub complex, so you can easily fit in your shopping around the tennis. If you fancy doing something a little more daring, the River Kallang, which meanders through the area, is famous for its water sports. If you then want to travel a little further afield after experiencing all that Kallang has to offer, then the nearby Stadium and Kallang MRT stations provide good links to other parts of Singapore.
Will you be there this October?
After such an exciting few months of tennis, it’s only fitting that the season comes to a close in one of the world’s most spectacular tourist destinations. With breathtaking scenery and outstanding shopping, entertainment and sports facilities, Singapore really is in a class of its own. Your favourite tennis players already have their tickets booked – will you be joining them?
