If you are looking for a wireless router and aren’t sure what kind to buy, you may want to consider one that is easy to manage and has a quick set up wizard . As someone who knows nothing about routers, I could not just run out to the store and purchase whatever the sales person advised me to buy. Nope, that’s not my style as I’m sure it’s not yours either. Here’s what I found out:
The Medialink Wireless Router has been one of the easiest ones to set up if you aren’t a computer guru. If you’re like me, I’ve always had my computer hooked up to my cable and never really paid much attention when it came to routers. Then hubby wanted to download things with his Xbox 360. I knew I needed to do a bit of research before I spent any money so after reading up online about them and calling several places like Radio Shack, Stapes and Best Buy for additional information and answers, I came to the conclusion the Medialink is what I was looking for.
This wireless router fully complies with wireless standards, it’s guaranteed to work with any manufacturers DSL or Cable modems and here’s my favorite reason…..the customer service is outstanding! In this day and age, there are people who do not know how to hook things up. Like me for instance, and sometimes I need all the help I can get. If you call customer service, you will get help. There are certain hours you can call, it’s not like it’s 24/7 but you can be reassured that the person on the other end is knowledgeable about the product. That’s what I like!
When researching routers, I found out that this router gave more priority to assure quality when it came to those sensitive interruptions. Have you ever put on Netflix and all of a sudden the movie freezes up? That was what I did not want! I especially did not want to hear my hubby screaming like a girl when one of his manly xbox games froze up in the middle of a war! I like a peaceful home please!
Working form home a lot, I also needed the reassurance that you can connect more than one computer. This wireless router lets me connect up to 4 directly. I’ve got two grand kids that love to play on their Nintendo 3D and I didn’t want my computer to slow down because of all the stuff being used. That didn’t happen, I’m happy to say that I haven’t noticed any difference in my speed since adding a wireless router to my system!
Here are some other features that I liked:
- Has a current security system to keep out unwanted intruders to my network! That’s a must have!
- It is Microsoft Certified and because I have Windows 7 I needed the router to be able to be compatable. It also supports Windows 2000, XP and Vista. It even supports Mac OS X and Linus.
- It has a wall mount so it doesn’t get in the way if you don’t have a lot of desk space!
- One year warranty, which I hope I never need to use!
So if you are looking for a wireless router, Medialink may be the one for you. Do your research!
