Why Should You Get Married?

Why Should You Get Married?

The reason I am writing this article is because times are changing. Thirty years ago, we didn’t see couples living together before marriage. There are 2 choices, get married or don’t. If you are wondering which is best for you, keep reading.

Marriage is a binding commitment that people have made for thousands of years. Put simply, marriage is a binding commitment of love between a man and women. In the past thirty years marriage has become less and less important to many people. We are starting to see kids who’s parents are not husband and wife but simply boyfriend and girlfriend. Are there plusses of not getting married?
I have heard many people say that there are benefits of not being married. One of the most common occurring beliefs is that there are tax benefits of not getting married. I don’t know what those tax benefits are but I am not sure they are worth it.
So why get married?
There are a number of benefits of getting married vs. staying single. I will only discuss a few but there are many more. I am often around Salt Lake wedding photography and have opportunities to talk with photographers. They frequently tell me that they love working at weddings because people are happier at weddings than at any other time. Getting married brings happiness to our lives.
Number 1:
Marriage is a sign of commitment to one another. Marriage is a way of telling your companion that you want to be with them and only them for the rest of your life. Showing this in and of itself will make your relationship twice as strong. Not only does this commitment show your partner that you are committed to them but it reminds you that you are taken and not single. It is not worth a few bucks to not have that sign of commitment in your relationship.
Number 2:
Majority of children in school have married parents. More than we think, our children are affected by the choices we make as parents. When a child’s parents are not married, the child questions how committed they are to each other. When these children see that their friend’s parents are married they begin to question why their family is different. Getting married is a positive example to children.
Number 3:
Promising someone that you will be with them forever gives you a reason to stay together even in hard times. It is so much easier to split up when there is not a ring on your finger. It is sad that a high percentage of marriage ends in divorce but the number of couples who split up who were not married is much higher.
I have only shared a few reasons to get married but like I said earlier, there are plenty more reasons. Making a binding commitment to one another will bring you closer together. Saving a few bucks on your taxes is a poor excuse to not get married. Find the person you love, get married and start a family. There is a reason people have been getting married for thousands of years. The benefits are lasting.
